“I can never go wrong with these tacos.”
On The Alley is owned and operated by Brophy Brothers Restaurant with simple, high quality food at the Santa Barbara Harbor- but on the go and served with a flair.
On The Alley’s menu ranges from fresh, fish tacos (my personal favorite) to something as crazy as their Grilled Ratatouille Wrap or their Crab Cake Burger- a large & crispy crab cake on a buttery brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, Tabasco mayo, and pickled red onion…I’ve never tried it, but oh boy, writing that sentence made me realize how much I do need to try it → YOU SHOULD TOO, EVERYBODY SHOULD (unless you don’t like crab because a lot of people don’t). However, my all time favorite will definitely be an order of 2 of ‘The Baja’ Fish Tacos. These are the best fish tacos I have had–in Santa Barbara and at a cheap price, 1 for $3 or 2 for $6. The tacos feature crispy, beer-battered fish, avocado, pickled onion, queso fresco, and salsa blanca » all served on a warm corn tortilla and served with their freshly made tortilla chips, seen to your left ⇒ OH SO GOOD.
If you aren’t a seafood person, which is okay because I used to not be, they have plenty of other styles of food despite their location on the Harbor. Lets say ‘The Baja’ Fish Taco I just described to you sounds amazing, but you don’t like fish…well guess what- they have a Fried Avocado Taco which is everything I listed previously in a taco but with beer-battered avocado in place of the fish, it is very good, if you like avocado— they also have a Chicken or Chipotle Pork Taco. In addition, they have numerable American options including their BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich or their Ultimate Grilled Cheese which includes Cheddar, Jack, & Provolone cheese, tomato, avocado and grilled onion, all served on thick-cut sourdough.
Their sides that come with the meals are also to die for! Their sandwiches, wraps, and burgers all come with their house-made potato chips which can also be substituted for fries or tater tots (I LOVE TATER TOTS). Anyways, they also have freshly made Lemonade, which is a must have.
Furthermore, On The Alley is not only known for their menu, but also their awesome atmosphere which is not as fancy as their food is- which is nice. It can be sit down in their outside seating area, seen to your left, or you can walk around on the Harbor and enjoy your food- living the dream.
All in all, if you are at the Santa Barbara Harbor, head to On The Alley and enjoy some high quality food for not so high prices but a great experience.
Overall: 😀 + $$
